B-3は1930年代に米国陸軍航空隊(The United States Army Air Forces / USAAF)に正式採用された、寒冷地気候用フライトジャケットです。

シープシェアリング・ジャケットの傑作タイプB-3は、冬期用フライトジャケットとして1934年に正式採用されました。

豪華なシープスキンを用いたこのジャケットは首廻りを保護する大きな襟や、風の侵入を防ぐ締まったカフス、ウエストのアジャスターベルトなど、数あるシープスキン・フライトジャケットの中でもスタイル性、防寒性ともに完成度の高いモデルです。

この製品は、ラフウェア社(Rough Wear Clothing Co.)が製造していた初期モデルの復刻モデルです。

背中のカッティングパターンは戦争中期に大量生産された3分割のものとは異なり、背中の縫い合わせがウエストバンドの上を縦一文字の2分割仕様のため、裁断効率において非常に贅沢な使い方となっています。

素材はシープスキン(羊革)のリアルレザー本革仕様です。

タンニングはクローム、フィニッシュはラッカー仕上げです。

身頃裏地・袖裏地は、ムートンボアです。

毛皮の裏地で防寒性・保温性が高められています。

フロントはジッパー開閉式で、ファスナーにはミルスペックのニッケル仕上げのタロンジッパーが使用されています。

ジッパーの後に比翼(ストームフラップ)が付き、ジッパーから漏れた風が侵入してくるのを防いでくれるつくりになっています。

襟裏にはレザーのチンストラップベルト装備され、衿を立てチンストラップを使用することで、風の進入を防ぐようにされています。

(ベルトは縫い付けられています為、着脱はできません)。

右身頃には斜めに口が開いたマップポケットが配されています。

両袖はベジタブルタンニングのホースハイドレザーパネルで補強がほどこされています。

肩には階級章を付けるためのオフィサーランクタブが付属されています。

シープスキンは脂肪の穴が多く、皺(シワ)やシボもつきやすい性質を持っていますが、断熱性・保温効果が高く、柔らかいのが特徴の革です。
